Journal - Sporting Scene

The Physical Education (P.E.) Department plays a critical role in developing and enhancing the physical well- being of every student in ITE College West.

The Sports & Wellness module is a compulsory subject that is undertaken by all students in ITE. Aimed to educate and equip every student the necessary skills to play at least one sport, students attend an hour of P.E. lesson once a week. Apart from Sports & Wellness lessons, ITE students are also required to test their fitness through the NAPFA test (a compulsory physical fitness test for all graduating male students before their enlistment into National Service).

Sports CCAs play a critical role in the area of student development and character shaping. Apart from training the technical competencies of sports, P.E. Lecturers and Sports coaches also instil the Olympic Values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect in our students through constant emphasis of fair play and healthy competition.

Through the participation of Sports CCAs, our athletes are exposed to various Sporting competition platforms such as, Inter-School Challenge Shield (competition among the schools in College West), games in the ITE Sports Council (competition among the 3 ITE Colleges), POLITE (competition among the Polytechnics and ITE) and the IVP (competition between ITE, Polytechnics and the Universities).

Striving to be a Sporting College, the P.E. Department will continue to discover new ways to engage our students through sports and help them achieve their desired fitness goals.
